Find in DC & VA treatment for anxiety, depression, and stress disorders

Licensed Clinical Psychologist serving Ashburn, VA and the Washington DC metro area.

Dr. Jerome

I am a clinical psychologist with specialty training in cognitive-behavioral treatment of anxiety, depression, and stress disorders. My Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology is from Ohio University, where I focused on treatment of chronic headache and other health-related stress disorders. As part of my doctoral training, I completed a one-year clinical internship in the Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry at the West Virginia University (WVU) School of Medicine, where I focused on treating anxiety disorders, chronic pain, and eating disorders.

I completed my clinical training during a residency at NeuroScience, Inc. in Herndon, VA, where I worked with Dr. Keith Saylor. During my residency training, I developed a specialized focus in treating panic-disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and specific phobias (such as fear of flying).

I see clients of all ages who suffer from anxiety, depression, or stress disorders. I also maintain an active interest in a wide range of problem behaviors among children and teens, and I address these problems through a combination of individual therapy, behavioral reward systems, and parent training.

In my practice, I employ the latest in evidence-based therapeutic interventions, blending Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with mindfulness training, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and solution-focused therapy. A tailored, individualized treatment approach is developed through an active collaboration with each client or family who seeks my services.

I also work closely with the psychiatrists in our group practice to ensure that medicine is used when appropriate and that medical and behavioral treatments are carefully integrated to enhance effectiveness.

For clients who are unable to leave their homes, or for problems that require in-home observation or intervention, I can provide home-based treatment, on a limited basis, in the Sterling, Ashburn, Leesburg area.

Prior to starting my clinical practice, I had a career as a research scientist, working in several private companies in the local area. I received more than 20 research grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH) for the design, development, and evaluation of self-help and minimal contact behavior change programs implemented via hand-held computers.
